FAQs on donations

The tax office generally accepts donations of up to 300 euros without receipts.
If you would like a donation receipt, please send an e-mail to info@elhks.de stating the date and amount of your donation, along with your name and address.

If you use our donation form for your donation, you will automatically receive a donation confirmation (“donation receipt”).
For example, you can formulate the appeal for donations as follows:

“In lieu of flowers and in memory of the deceased, please make a donation to the Eva Luise and Horst Köhler Foundation for People with Rare Diseases to the following account at Sparkasse KölnBonn

Please state the following as the reason for payment: “Bereavement first name and surname of the deceased”
We understand the desire to thank the donors personally. We therefore send the bereaved a list with the names of all donors and the total amount donated around three to four weeks after the funeral service.

For data protection reasons, we are unfortunately not allowed to show the amount of the individual donations.

If you would like to remain informed about the amount of the individual donations, we recommend that you set up your own donation account, which you can specify in the obituary.

Afterwards, simply transfer the total amount to our foundation’s donation account, stating “Bereavement first name and surname of the deceased” as the intended purpose.
If you would like to make a donation to the Eva Luise and Horst Köhler Foundation instead of a gift, please transfer your donation to our donation account a few days before the festive occasion if possible. This gives us enough time to record all incoming donations.

To ensure that we can allocate the donations correctly, it is important that you state the surname and first name of the recipient(s) in the reference field.

Will I receive a receipt or certificate for the recipient(s)?
We can produce a personal thank you card on request. You can decide whether this should be sent directly to the recipient or sent to you.

In either case, the card will be sent as soon as we receive your donation and the necessary information. Please send us the following details by e-mail to spenden@elhks.de
- name of the recipient
- occasion
- amount of the donation
- your name
- name and address to which the card is to be sent
