A legacy that makes a difference
By making a donation in your will for research into rare diseases, you are giving seriously ill children, young people and adults hope for a healthier future. Thanks to legacies and bequests, we are able to provide missing research funds precisely where there is a particularly urgent need for promising therapeutic approaches.
Your legacy or bequest for rare disease research
Many people want to leave a lasting legacy behind at the end of their lives. Your will gives you the space to do so – with a testamentary donation for research: in the right hands, an inheritance or legacy can become tomorrow’s therapy.
Make a donation in your will: do good with your inheritance or legacy
We are happy to support you in expressing your last wishes and ensuring that your gift is allocated where it can have the greatest impact. When announcing and selecting projects, we can also take into account topics that are particularly close to your heart. These can be, for example, “children and young people”, certain diseases or the promotion of young talent. We would advise you to consult us before committing to a specific purpose, so that we can take this into account. Let us know where you would like to provide a beacon of hope with your legacy and we will discuss with you the most effective way to accomplish this!

Your legacy for the “orphans of medicine” is in good hands with us
Your last will and testament donation for research is in good hands with us. The Eva Luise and Horst Köhler Foundation is the only charitable institution that invests in research across all diseases nationwide and in areas where many others do not: rare diseases tend to receive little attention from politicians and industry due to the low number of cases.
The Köhler family has first-hand experience of the suffering of those affected. That is why Eva Luise and Prof. Dr. Horst Köhler initiated the establishment of a foundation at the beginning of their first term as Federal President, which stands in solidarity with people with rare diseases. Click on the following link to see where we are doing good with your donations.
Donate your inheritance: ensure help arrives where it’s needed
The tax office has recognized the Eva Luise and Horst Köhler Foundation as a charitable foundation. Inheritances, endowments and donations to us are therefore exempt from gift and inheritance tax. We therefore receive 100 percent of your donations, which are used in full for the charitable purposes of the foundation.
Donate in your will: make your last will and testament count
If you appoint our foundation as your sole heir, our Board of Directors will handle your estate with care and respect. It is important to us that your last wishes are fulfilled exactly as you wish. We will take care of all the necessary matters discreetly and with the same care – from clearing out your home to looking after your grave – as we would for a relative.
